No matter what direction you head from Calgary for a fall day trip, there are numerous things to explore to north, east, south, or west. The west has, of course, several recreational and sightseeing options, including the fall foliage alone. Last Chance for a Canoe or Kayak Trip
There are numerous locations where canoers and kayakers are able to access the Bow River within Calgary. Most of these access points are hand-launches that are best suited to canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards. Plus, the city also operates a few other hand-launches on the Elbow River. With the boat launch map, it is easy to plan a route through the city with stops for snacks or a picnic at various city parks.
