Parks Canada today launched an intriguing podcast series called ReCollections, designed to take listeners on an audio journey through the nation’s historic sites.
This captivating series, consisting of an initial five episodes, aims to uncover the diverse stories behind various national treasures, shedding light on Canada’s rich natural and cultural heritage.
Per the news release, ReCollections offers listeners an immersive experience as they explore each site through interviews with experts from across the country. These engaging discussions provide insights into the historical significance of these cherished locations, such as the sacred Haida village in Gwaii Haanas, the Norse settlement ruins in Northern Newfoundland, and the epicenter of the Klondike Gold Rush in Dawson City.
Listeners will also learn about the remarkable stories of individuals, such as Marie Marguerite Rose, Canada’s first known Black businesswoman, who overcame enslavement and found freedom at the Fortress of Louisbourg. Additionally, the podcast sheds light on the fascinating history of a quarantine island in the Saint-Lawrence, which served as a gateway for millions of immigrants seeking new lives in North America.
