The popular train tours by Alberta Prairie Railway return on Mother’s Day weekend with a full slate of exciting themed and dinner train rides.

Alberta Prairie Railway will take you on a beautiful tour of Central Alberta. On a passenger train from the 1920s, pulled by either a steam or diesel engine, you will be travelling from Stettler to the Village of Big Valley or Warden Junction.
Most journeys include a stop at Big Valley or the Country Hideaway. A range of activities, meals, and entertainment is offered depending on the destination, with some trips catering specifically to families while others are adult-only.
During the train ride, you will experience a railway robbery, just like it used to be in the old times.
Train robberies are a recurring feature on most excursions, excluding the Teddy Bear Special, Harvest Pumpkin Fest, The Polar Express, and Murder Mysteries. The Reynolds Raiders perform these robberies, a mounted gang that collects loose change for children’s charities.
All trips include meals, entertainment, and sightseeing. Visitors to Big Valley may explore attractions such as Jimmy Jock Boardwalk, St. Edmund’s Church, and the 1912 Canadian Northern station. Country Hideaway trips feature hayrides, nature walks, carnival games, and live shows.
Special excursions include steak dinners, barbecue rib events, musical performances, and mystery theatre. Seasonal and themed experiences, such as the Teddy Bear Special and Pumpkin Fest, are offered during the season.
Alberta Prairie Railway also offers the extremely popular Polar Express rides during the Christmas season.
If you are visiting Stettler for the train tour, plan a weekend in the town. Stettler offers a ton of family-friendly activities that let you explore its history, culture, food, and natural areas.
