If you are a music aficionado, you might know that the 2023 Juno Awards will be held in Edmonton.
The 52nd annual celebration of Canada’s music industry will be held on Monday, March 13 at Rogers Place.
Today, the organizers announced that Simu Liu will return to host the event for the second year in a row.
Simu Liu is star of the first Asian-fronted movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings.
His “I Am Canadian” speech during his first appearance at 2022 Juno Awards in Toronto went viral. During the awards ceremony, he also gave a unique rendition of Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and joined viral sensation Tesher for a memorable duet of “Jalebi Baby.”
“I am truly ecstatic to be back again this year hosting The 2023 JUNO Awards,” said Simu Liu in a statement. “There are no words to describe the incredible energy that took over Toronto last spring and I can’t wait to help bring that to Edmonton. If you thought my rendition of ‘Complicated’ was good, just wait until you hear my Nickelback cover.”
This year, Nickelback will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame live on the Broadcast during a once-in-a-lifetime performance reflecting on their 20+ year career in music.
Calgary native and four-time JUNO nominee, Tate McRae will take to the stage to entertain the audience.
Produced by Insight Productions, 2023 JUNO Awards will broadcast and stream live across Canada at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music’s Facebook, YouTube and Twitter pages.
Tickets for the in-person Awards event start at $49.00 (including tax plus fees).
The Juno Week programming will run from Thursday, March 9 through Monday, March 13, 2023, featuring programs like JUNO Fan Fare, JUNO Comedy Show Presented by SiriusXM Canada, JUNO Songwriters’ Circle Presented by SOCAN and FACTOR in association with Music Publishers Canada and JUNO Cup Presented by CBC Sports.
