A new winter lights festival, Squamish at Dusk, is set to light up Rose Park in Squamish this holiday season.
From November 23 to December 10, 2023, this inaugural event promises to be a mesmerizing and family-friendly experience combining art, storytelling, and immersive light installations.
Squamish at Dusk aims to transform the local park into a magical wonderland of lights, offering a festive atmosphere leading up to Christmas.
Visitors to the festival can expect a blend of art exhibitions, winter experiences, and a festival of lights. The installations are designed to immerse event-goers in a transformed environment, fusing elements of light, art, and narrative to unveil stories about the region.
Among the attractions are:
- A mesmerizing and immersive tunnel of lights.
- A glowing enchanted forest.
- A deep and sparkling grotto.
- A magnificent tree of life symbolizing connection.
- An underwater-themed immersive installation.
- Colourful doorways to explore.
- Activities, fire pits, and festive cheer at the Adventure Centre.
- Special visits from Santa Claus on Friday evenings.
The Squamish Adventure Centre will serve as a hub for warmth and festivity to complement the outdoor experience.
The event will take place on Thursday to Saturday nights, with entrance times ranging from 4 pm to 9 pm, and the gates closing at 10 pm. Visitors can enjoy free entry to the Adventure Centre until 10 pm.
This unique winter lights experience is a collaborative effort between Squamish social enterprise, The Wilder, and Whistler’s Best Coast Lights. It has received support through partnerships and sponsorships from organizations such as Tourism Squamish, Stark Architecture, Sunbelt Rentals, Squamish Arts, Matthews West, and advertising assistance from the Locals Board.
