It’s maple syrup time, and one of Ontario’s famous Maple Syrup Festivals is back, complete with maple-themed events, artisan vendors and live entertainment.
Get ready to embrace the sweetness of spring in the charming village of Warkworth in Northumberland County.
The festival returns on March 9, giving you a perfect excuse to plan a March Break trip to Trent Hills.
From the Warkworth village, you can hop aboard a complimentary shuttle bus to Sandy Flat Sugar Bush and indulge in a scrumptious pancake breakfast, horse and wagon rides, maple taffy on snow, and live musical entertainment.
Here you can learn about the historical and modern traditions of boiling sap, with sap-making demonstrations, taffy on snow, horse-drawn sleigh rides, and a log-sawing contest. Enjoy the musical entertainment as you take a scenic sleigh ride through the tall sugar bush.
The fun continues in the village, and explore the downtown area, packed with shops, boutiques, and cafes brimming with maple-themed items.
Don’t miss out on this year’s special events in the village, including the Artisan Show and Sale, featuring 25 vendors from within Northumberland County and beyond.
You can also explore Warkworth through a storybook walk, and try your hand at mini-putt at St. Paul’s United Church.
When you’re feeling peckish, Warkworth has a variety of fantastic eateries to choose from, including Pizza By The Bakery, Our Lucky Stars Cafe & Roastery, Centre & Main Chocolate, and Villa Conti Winery. And if you’re in the mood for shopping, make sure to stop by some of the unique stores, such as Frantic Farms Clay & Glass Gallery and Douglas Morlock Blacksmith.
The festival will also feature a beer garden at Fogorig Brewery.
The fun-filled Warkworth Maple Syrup Festival runs on March 9 and 10. Admission to most activities in the Village is free, and Sandy Flat Sugar Bush admission costs $5 and pancake breakfast $15.
Remember to return in late May for the annual Warkworth Lilac Festival.
