Hamilton FalconWatch has reported the hatching of Peregrine Falcons in downtown Hamilton. Peregrine Falcons are known for site fidelity, which means they will use the same nest year after year as long as nothing at the site is disturbed.

The Falcon Parents, Ossie and Lily, has been nesting at the Sheraton Hamilton Hotel for the last five years.

Although Lily laid several eggs in 2019, none of them hatched. Falcons watchers have been eagerly awaiting to see if Lily and Ossie will have new chicks this year.

As per Hamilton FalconWatch, Lily laid her first egg on March 18th, 2020. Both Lily and Ossie have been taking turns incubating the eggs.

On April 28th, two chicks were spotted. “Shortly after 8am this morning, Lily left the nest, and as Ossie came in to replace her, a beautiful white head poked up above the edge of the ledge (first photo). A few minutes later Lily returned with the first meal, and during feeding, it became obvious that she was feeding a second chick.”, mentioned the update on Hamilton FalconWatch.
