Alberta has nine statutory holidays.
Statutory holidays are days when employees are entitled to general holiday pay if they have worked for the same employer for at least 30 workdays in the 12 months before the holiday. In addition, employees must not have been absent without consent on the last scheduled day before or the first day after and must not have refused to work on the general holiday when requested or scheduled.
