This is When You Will Get Double GST Credit From Federal Government

Last month, Canada announced that low-income families will receive double the goods and services tax credit for six months pending parliamentary approval and Royal Assent

GST credit depends on the annual income and is indexed to inflation is paid quarterly in January, April, July, and October, with the benefit year beginning in July.

GST Credit was increased by 2.4 per cent based on the average Consumer Price Index over October 2020 to September 2021 period.

As Canada’s inflation increased sharply in 2022, which was not reflected in GST Credit payments which Canadians are currently receiving, the government decided to double the amount they receive for six months.

Bill-30, a temporary enhancement to the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax credit, received Royal Assent yesterday.

The federal government says eligible Canadians who already receive the GST Credit will automatically receive their payments starting November 4th.

As per the news release, Canadians without children will receive up to an extra $234 and couples with two children will receive up to an extra $467 this year. Seniors will receive an extra $225 on average in GST Credit.
