Low-income Canadians eligible for goods and services tax credit will receive the additional one-time GST credit payment starting today.
Those who are currently receiving GST credit and those who have filed 2021 taxes will receive double the amount they receive for six months (or a full year benefit in six months) as a one-time, lump-sum payment calculated based on your family situation in October 2022 and your 2021 adjusted family net income starting today.
The one-time maximum payment eligible varies depending on the family situation and you can expect up to (calculation available here):
If you are single:
- $234 (no children)
- $387 (with 1 child)
- $467 (with 2 children)
- $548 (with 3 children)
- $628 (with 4 children)
If you are married or have a common-law partner:
- $306 (no children)
- $387 (with 1 child)
- $467 (with 2 children)
- $548 (with 3 children)
- $628 (with 4 children)
The government says if you do not receive the payment today, you should wait for 10 business days before contacting them.
