Head to this little town in Niagara Falls Region this Father’s Day weekend to take part in the centennial celebrations.

The town of Grimsby was originally inhabited by First Peoples until 1650s. Later, when the Loyalist settlers arrived in 1770s, the town was called “The Forty” after the Forty Mile Creek.
The name “Grimsby” was adopted to commemorate the seaport town of Grimsby in North East Lincolnshire, England it was incorporated as a village in 1876.

The town is celebrating its centennial this year because the Town of Grimsby was not officially formed until 1922.
This weekend, to celebrate 100 years, the town is making its annual festival, Happening in Grimsby, extra special.

You can ride on a giant Ferris wheel enjoy the views of Niagara Escarpment and views of the Niagara Falls wineries, and sip on delicious wines or beers while listening to live concerts on the Main Street on Friday.
The festival kicks into high gear on Saturday with Kids Zone featuring magicians and other family entertainment including bouncy castles.

You can shop from local artists and artisans at the massive vendor market.
Ferris wheel rides, culinary treat vendors, wineries and breweries will be available Saturday too.
There will be live entertainment at various locations throughout the downtown with mainstage entertainment featuring The Country Junkies and Jason Blaine.
On Saturday, the historic Nelles Manor Museum will play host to the Incorporated Militia of Upper Canada for a Militia Encampment.
You can see traditional inspection and drill, musket and cannon demonstrations and ceremonial events from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A shuttle will also run connecting various festival sites during event days.
