Aspen Crossing

These rail adventures showcase the province’s diverse landscapes and heritage, providing unique ways to explore and learn while on board.

Railways played a significant role in Alberta’s economic development, making for a unique vacation experience that allows travellers to travel, dine, or explore the less-travelled parts of the prairies.

Each trip offers a distinct perspective on Alberta’s rich rail history and scenic beauty.

Aspen Crossing Train Excursions

Take your pick from a variety of unique and fun train adventures with the Aspen Crossing Excursions. During your travels, Aspen Crossing will wine and dine you and show you some of the best prairie views around southeast Alberta. You can even book a whole vacation around your train tour by staying at their campsite and trying the tavern or Dining Car restaurant. The rail runs through an area of private property, beginning at the park’s entrance and campground, and continuing through farmland, passing Mossleigh, and a variety of historical buildings.

Address: Hwy #24, Mossleigh

Cost: Starts at $ 29 for children and $ 39 for adults

Battle River Train Excursions

Battle River Train Excursions

The theme of your Battle River excursion depends on what day you decide to ride the rails: August hosts two events that explore local central Alberta history and one which explores modern rural farming. The rides get spookier in the fall with Murder on the BR Express events. There are three stops spread around the Battle River and Forestburg areas: Alliance, Forestburg, and Kelsey. Each excursion takes you between any of the three stops, which are also historic sites where the train stops.

  • Scenic Road Trip Alberta: Calgary to Edmonton Via The Badlands

Address: 5009 – 50th Ave., Forestburg
