During your travels, Aspen Crossing will wine and dine you and show you some of the best prairie views around southeast Alberta. You can even book a whole vacation around your train tour by staying at their campsite and trying the tavern or Dining Car restaurant. The rail runs through an area of private property, beginning at the park’s entrance and campground, and continuing through farmland, passing Mossleigh, and a variety of historical buildings.

Battle River Train Excursions

Battle River Train Excursions
The theme of your Battle River excursion depends on what day you decide to ride the rails: August hosts two events that explore local central Alberta history and one which explores modern rural farming. The rides get spookier in the fall with Murder on the BR Express events. There are three stops spread around the Battle River and Forestburg areas: Alliance, Forestburg, and Kelsey. Each excursion takes you between any of the three stops, which are also historic sites where the train stops.

Alberta Prairie Railway

Alberta Prairie Railway
Take in the sights on the prairies while also taking in the fresh air! The Alberta Prairie Railway summer excursions give you the option to enjoy part of your ride from an open-air coach, along with a few other perks. Along your travels, you’ll also dine, be entertained by live performers, and see historical sites around central Alberta.
The train boards on the east side of Stettler and the excursions take you to the end of the line in Big Valley and back to Stettler.

Jasper Train Tour

SunDog Transportation and Tour Co.
Immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Canadian Rockies with Via Rail’s Skeena train tours, offering two exhilarating routes from Jasper to either Dunster or McBride, British Columbia. These unique tours offered by SunDog Transportation and Tour Co., blend a scenic Via Rail train journey with a sightseeing coach tour, offering unrivalled views of the Fraser River, Robson Valley, and the staggering Mount Robson – the highest peak in the Rockies.
Both routes begin with a train ride along the Skeena train line, followed by an informative, guided return trip on a SunDog coach, offering plenty of photo opportunities and intriguing local insights. The Jasper-Dunster tour runs year-round on Sundays and Fridays, taking 5-6 hours, while the Jasper-McBride trip operates on Mondays and Thursdays, year-round, lasting 6-7 hours.

High-Level Bridge Streetcar
Edmonton’s river valley offers wicked views and scenery and can be enjoyed from way up above on the High-Level Bridge. Heritage Park Train
Explore early Alberta from a seat on Heritage Park’s 19th century-style train! The rails run all throughout the park with three stops included (2 in Village Centre and 1 in the Settlement) and makes the large park more convenient to navigate. There are several parts of the park to see from the train and in-person like Heritage Square, Village Centre, Prospect Ridge, the Antique Midway, The Ranch, and The Settlement.
