From the clang of swords to the aroma of open-fire cooking, Viking Days promises an authentic glimpse into Norse life, minus the centuries of distance.

The Danish Canadian Museum
The Danish Canadian National Museum in Dickson will transform into a Viking stronghold this summer when Viking Days returns on August 15–17, 2025.
Known as the largest annual gathering of Viking re-enactors in North America, the event offers a rare chance to step inside a recreated Viking village, complete with demonstrations of traditional crafts, trades, and battle tactics.
The festivities begin Friday evening with Stew & Brew (6–8 p.m.), where guests share a meal of Stuvet Oksekød with biscuits and beer. The night also features the museum’s 3rd Annual Steinholding Competition, testing the endurance of even the sturdiest participants. Tickets range from $35–$40 for adults and $15 for children under 12.
Saturday’s highlight is the Viking Feast (6–9 p.m.), a night of storytelling, live music, and a shared meal under the event tent. Feast tickets, priced at $100, include day access to explore the village and watch battle re-enactments.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can tour the Viking encampment, cross paths with costumed warriors, and even see children take up foam weapons to “join the fray.” Daily admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $6 for youth, while children five and under enter free.
The final morning, August 17, offers a pancake breakfast from 10 a.m. to noon, included with the day’s admission.
For those looking to extend their trip, the area near Spruce View offers additional attractions. Dickson Dam Beach provides a sunny spot for swimming and picnics, while Gleniffer Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area is popular for boating, fishing, and camping. These lakeside escapes make for a perfect pairing with a weekend of Viking adventures.
