1. An Indie Feature Film Editing Master Class

The editor behind critically acclaimed films such as Enemy (2013), James White (2015) and Swiss Army Man (2016) is coming to the WFG for an in-depth Master Class!

The class will begin with a screening of James White (2015). The screening will be followed by an open format workshop led by Matthew Hannam on editing low budget feature films. The class will cover the basics, the theory, the concrete and the vague. Matthew Hannam will bring a few mini case studies from his work and the class will talk about the endlessly frustrating and essential act of editing films. Details

2. Zoo Photography Workshop

 

Join us for an early morning photo session and capture the Zoo as it comes to life! This is a rare opportunity to develop your photography skills when the animals are most active. The first hour of the workshop takes place before the Zoo opens to the public for the day. Wayne Hewitt, an experienced freelance and Zoo photographer, will be your expert guide. Wayne will share techniques for taking stunning photos of animals in their enclosures including proper camera settings and tips for framing, composition, and taking advantage of available light. There will be a wonderful opportunity to take close-up photos of a small animal ambassador.

Bring your own camera and dress for the weather. Participants are welcome to stay in the Zoo after the workshop. Details

3. Polycoro Presents: Positive Friction

500 years of Musical Revolution inspired by Martin Luther. Join us as we explore how the ripple effects of one idea inspired and changed Western music for centuries.

Featuring works by Ambrosius, Praetorius, Josquin, Christian Erbach, Heinrich Schutz, Johann Schein, J. S. Bach, Johann Walter, and Isaiah Ceccarelli in commemoration of Luther’s great act of rebellion. Details

5. Elementary, My Dear Watson

The Basics of Mystery Writing with Catherine Hunter. In this workshop, each participant will plan a mysteryy novel, beginning with the basic elements: drawing a plot outline, creating a hero, and drafting a major scene. Wrtiers of all levels are welcome. Whether you have already written, are in the middle of writing one, or simply curious about how it’s done, you should find the exercises in this workshop helpful. We will begin with a brief lecture about the mystery genre, and then we’ll work together to generate ideas, using techniques designed to spark inspiration. Details
