Caddy Lake
Caddy Lake is for the adventurous, active couple. You’ll need your canoe for this one. Man-made tunnels go throughout the rock formations around the lake. They were made back when the railroad was being built. These tunnels are now the Caddy Lake canoe route.
You could spend a whole weekend canoeing through the tunnels and around the lake. There are two separate tunnels to go through that are about 3 miles apart. If you are feeling adventurous, the whole route continues for about 105-mile round trip. There are camping spots along the way that is nice and secluded. Details
Manigotagan River
Pack a tent to camp along the river. Make sure to follow the no trace camping guidelines though since you will be in bear country. But if you and your partner are really itching for an adventurous trip, this might be just the one. Details
Trail End Camp and Outfitters
Do you and your spouse like to fish? Consider adding Trail End Camp and Outfitters to your list of adventures to go on. This is a remote, drive-in sportsman resort in the north area of Whiteshell Provincial Park. Here you will get to fish the Winnipeg River. Or if you prefer to hunt, go during hunting season.

Wekusko Falls Provincial Park
Since Wekusko Falls is located within the Canadian Shield, many rock formations are just waiting to be climbed. This park has something available during the summer and winter months that will make any active couple excited.
When the weather is nice, hit up the hiking trails to find the swinging bridges. Keep exploring throughout the park to find the designated rock climbing spots that also lead to cave access points. Riding Mountain National Park
A weekend getaway for an active couple would not be complete without staying at a national park. More specifically in Manitoba, that would be Riding Mountain National Park.
This area has over 400km of trails for you and your partner to hike. The paths range from easy all the way up to challenging and long routes for the more experienced hiker. If you are daring, go into the backcountry to experience what the park truly offers. Be careful though as you are in the bear country at this park.
Narcisse Snake Dens
If you want a perfect Spring getaway, then go see the snakes!
Would you and your partner consider walking through a park and viewing, even touching the snakes? Then, the Narcisse Snake Dens is the place to be. Starting late spring (May) and through the summer months, the snakes come out for the public to roam with. There is about a 3km path for walking throughout the park.
While you are there, stay at Skipper’s lodge, located within the InterLake region of Manitoba. There are rooms available that have a desk and internet access. The bathroom is shared, and there is a reading room for relaxing. But you’ll probably spend most of your time wandering the beautiful outdoors.
Grand Beach Provincial Park
But for the active couple, Grand Beach offers a variety of activities to keep you busy all weekend. Try out windsurfing and kiteboarding. Bring or rent a bicycle to hit up the trails. Yes, you can ski and snowboard in the prairies. Manitoba has Asessippi which offers 26 runs with three different lifts. From beginner to expert, there is a slope for all. Not only that, you can even grab a tube and go down the hill at their tubing park.

Pisew Falls Provincial Park
If you are ready to let your inner adventurous side shine through, then Pisew Falls Provincial Park is the place to be. Clear and pristine lakes mesh with landscape that offers the most active person something to be happy about. Since Pisew Falls in northern Manitoba, you’ll be able to experience the land untouched by anyone else.
Multiple trails throughout the park will take you into different areas of the park. But if you really are adventurous, there is a 22km hiking trail to Kwasitchewan Falls which is Manitoba’s highest waterfall. Backcountry campsites are also available. Details
McGillivray Lake
Located within Whiteshell Provincial Park is McGillivray Lake. But what would grab your attention is the McGillivray Falls and the trail that surrounds it. There are two different versions of the trail, a short 2.8km or the longer 4.6km trail that goes right to the lake. As you walk along the trail you will see the rushing rapids of water that creates McGillivray Falls. For the best experience, go within the springtime right after the snow melts.

Minnedosa
Minnedosa is a vibrant little community that has lots to offer the active couple. From golfing, camping, hiking trails in the summer to skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling in the winter. Plan a visit to Minnedosa at any time of year for an eventual little getaway.
Minnedosa has three main walking trails that are all worth going on. They each offer their own view of the area with ecosystems to explore.
