Some winter cabins in Alberta offer the works in luxury, with TV, power, and Wi-Fi, while some offer the necessities like heat, a firepit or fireplace, and a comfy bed. 3. Rustic Ghost Lake Retreat
The cabin on Ghost Lake is a beautiful little place to call your own for the weekend, but also has one of the coolest backstories out of any place on this list. The cabin retreat was built by the FIRST Canadian to ever climb Mount Everest and is close enough to our mountains that you can make them part of your getaway.

4. Folk Tree Lodge in Kananaskis

The Folk Tree’s ‘Little Red House” is a new addition to the Lodge in 2022 and is a great escape for two. The House includes a TV and Wi-Fi, a small patio and chairs near a firepit, a full kitchen, and beautiful surrounding scenery. The Lodge is nestled near Bragg Creek where you are close to mountains, rivers, lakes, and trails.

5. Miette Mountain Cabins
Take in all of the mountainous beauty in Jasper from the comfort of the Miette Mountain Cabins’ hot tubs! These smaller log cabins are a perfectly cozy place to rest your head after romantic Jasper dates: these could be skating, skiing, hiking, or cross-country skiing within the National Park. Most of their cabin provide all the comforts of a hotel, but in a much cuter package.

6. Expanse Cottages
Nordegg has a lot to offer in winter from hiking and snowshoe tours to Heli tours from way up above, and plenty of free exploration opportunities, too. And when you pass by the enormous Lake Abraham on your way here, you’ll head off the beaten path to get to the more remote Expanse Cottages. Even being remote, they do have Wi-Fi! Each cabin has a private and covered deck next to a private fire pit as well.

1. Cypress Hills Provincial Park
There are a few cabin options from this southeastern Provincial Park, where you also have your pick from a ton of winter activities to do together. Of the Park’s smaller cabins, you can book the Elkwater Cabin, the Graburn Hut, and the Reesor Lake Hut in winter. During your stay, you can cross-county ski the extensive trails, go downhill skiing, skate along a 1.5km track, fat bike, snowshoe, or just relax under the park’s dark sky preserve.

Alberta’s southwest corner has it all for natural beauty, especially with Waterton Lakes National Park taking up much of this corner.
