Alberta’s biggest Canada Day party will feature free entertainment and activities for all ages to enjoy at one of the most picturesque places in our province, the Alberta Legislature Grounds.

On July 1st, visitors can enjoy a free pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m.

Official celebrations will start with a welcome ceremony at the Legislature Building Front Steps at 12 pm.

There will be free entertainment for the whole family like Cree Storytelling with Dr. Evelyn Steinhauer and Jim Cardinal and Sung Lee Taekwondo.

Shumka Ukrainian Dancers, Métis Fiddle Music with Colten Bear, Kita No Taiko Japanese Drumming and Shivamanohari School of the Performing Arts will showcase Alberta’s diversity through performances at the Legislature South Bandshell.

Raygun Cowboys, The Hearts, Nicely Put Together Band will entertain the crowd from the Alberta Discovered Stage located at Violet King Henry Plaza.

Canada Day is also the only day when the Legislature’s Chamber floor is open to the public. See the grand staircase, where your MLA sits and marvel at the Chamber’s iconic architecture.

Visitors can also enjoy a food from a variety of food trucks and food stands available throughout the Legislature Grounds.

The festivities at the grounds end at 5 p.m. and fireworks will light up the sky at 11 p.m.

Alberta Legislature Grounds is one of the best places to see official Canada Day fireworks by the city of Edmonton. Other places include Victoria Park, Ezio Faraone Park (west entrance to High Level Bridge on 109 Street north), Government House Park, River Valley Road, Walterdale Hill Road and Promenade, Queen Elizabeth Park, Hill and Road and 109 Street (between Saskatchewan Drive and the High Level Bridge).
