Alberta is back in summer mode by June, anyways! Camping is open, lakes are open to boaters, and the trails are clear of snow. If you do need an escape, we have five ways to get you inspired by next weekend. These June 2nd vacation ideas can take you north, south, east, or west in the province. And they can be a starting point for creating your own perfect away.

Find a Bed & Breakfast

Allow for some true R&R on your vacation next weekend. This can be easy to do with the numerous Bed & Breakfast accommodations you can find in Alberta. These types of stays are usually only one or two nights, but get your day started with a decent meal!

  • Moose Meadow Inn ($210 per night) is between Calgary and Okotoks and offer cozy log cabin style rooms. The Inn’s 71 acres of land is also open for hiking.
  • Travel to Alberta’s deep south (Warner) for a unique stay in the Old Church B&B ($101 per night). It is a perfect place to stop for those visiting Cypress Hills, or Writing-on-Stone PP.
  • Enjoy some peaceful moments by the lake this weekend. The Waterfront Harbour Bed & Breakfast ($165 per night) is on Lakeshore Drive in Cold Lake and steps away from Kinosoo Beach.

Ram Falls Provincial Park

This is one of the most recent campgrounds to open up in the Alberta Parks system. The campground is open as of June 2nd and has several sites still available. There are also ten sites for first-come first-served. The area will be gorgeous to explore in early spring as the Ram Falls rage with heavy waters, and the wildflowers are in full bloom. This is a more rustic camping experience which means it also a quieter camping experience.

The Village of Lake Louise

While Banff is central to many of the National Park’s main attractions, so too is the village of Lake Louise. From here, you can get to the lake shores of Louise and Moraine, to Yoho National Park in BC, the Lake Louise Summer Gondola, and the Bow Valley Parkway. The hotels and motels in the village are far more cost-effective than the Fairmont Chateau. Both glacier lakes complete their spring thaw over the month of June. When they are completely thawed, both lakes are at their brightest aqua-marine hues.
