Killarney Provincial Parkis an exceptional outdoor wonderland with immense wilderness landscapes. Visually colorful views permeate the area, as the pink granite of the Georgian Bay Coast, the white quartzite ridges of La Cloche Mountains, and the clear glistening lakes come together to craft the perfect backdrop for winter activities like yurt camping or backcountry camping, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, as well as bundling up and checking out the night sky of Ontario’s first Dark Sky Preserve.
Explore the park on snowshoes or on skis
Ranging from shorter snowshoe adventures to all-day excursions on cross-country trails like the 7km Chikanishing trail, 11.5 km Freeland trail and the 14 km Collins Inlet trail takes you through endless forests, icy lakes, and panoramic view. You might be able to spot white-tailed deer and other critters.
Spend Family Day at the Park
Spend Family Day weekend stargazing at the park observatory, indulge in a BBQ lunch, go on a guided hike, and listen to a few presentations at the Mountain Lodge. Rentals and accommodation is available if you want to extend your stay after a quaint, fun weekend at the park. More details.
Go snowmobiling
Particularly popular in this southern Ontario park, Killarneyoffers the snowy trails you need for a great day of snowmobiling. O.F.S.C. trails offer visitors direct access to the Sudbury Trail Plan Trails and some trails even reach Little Current on Manitoulin Island.
What’s up above
Layer up and spend the night looking at the stars and constellations, and even interact with one of the Astronomers-in-Residence. Park Observatory allows visitors to closely connect with nature in a unique way, as our cities and major towns are highly light polluted in the modern day.
