See a lighthouse

Visit the Lighthouse Conservation Area located at the mouth of the Thames River at Lake St. Clair to see one of the oldest lighthouses on the Great Lakes. The lighthouse that was built in the early 1800’s was destroyed by fire during the War of 1812.  It was rebuilt in 1818. Details

Visit Historic Essex Railway Station

The Essex Railway Station, built in 1887, was a transportation hub in Essex County. After being damaged by an explosion in 1907, it was restored and continued serving the community until passenger services ceased. Preservation efforts began in 1975 and were completed by 1994. Today, the station houses a variety of railway memorabilia and historical artifacts. Visitors can take self-directed tours using provided booklets. Details
