7-Eleven Canada Marks 60 Years of Slurpee with Free Drinks and New Flavours

Slurpee is turning 60 in Canada, and 7-Eleven Canada is using this summer’s 7-Eleven Day to make the milestone hard to miss.

On July 11, customers at 7-Eleven Canada stores can get a free small Slurpee drink. For the anniversary, the featured limited-time flavour is Mountain Dew® Cake Smash Slurpee, tying the annual giveaway to the frozen drink’s birthday year.

The company is also adding several anniversary products to shelves. One of the bigger launches is Slurpee Soda, created with Canadian beverage company Collective Arts. The canned sodas are meant to echo familiar Slurpee flavours, but in a low-calorie, low-sugar format. They come in Lychee Lemonade, Blue Raspberry Lemon Lime and Birthday Cake. The Birthday Cake flavour will only be available for a limited time.

Each Slurpee Soda retails for $1.99 and is made with five grams of cane sugar. The can artwork was created by Hamilton, Ontario artist Art Club Mary. More Canadian artists are also expected to paint murals on selected 7-Eleven stores this summer through the Collective Arts collaboration.

The celebrations are not limited to drinks. 7-Eleven Canada has also introduced Slurpee Gummies and Slurpee Dip & Dunk Lollipops as commemorative 60th anniversary candies.

For 7Rewards® members, July 11 will also include $0.71 wings and 711 bonus points. Additional celebration offers will run from July 8 to 18, including buy-one-get-one promotions on selected beverages such as smartwater, Brisk, Electrolit and Monster Energy.

The anniversary will also hit the road in British Columbia, where a 7-Eleven Slurpee & Food Truck is scheduled to appear at community events throughout the summer.
