Alberta Legislature Grounds Lights: 2021 ‘Celebrate The Season’ Light Up on December 2nd

You can soon enjoy twinkling lights at the Alberta Legislature grounds as the official light-up ceremony is set for December 2nd.

Every year, Alberta’s Legislature grounds are lit up with over 100,000 Christmas lights. The LEDs wind through the large trees surrounding the fountain and continue to the south side of the Grounds.

The official light-up ceremony will be held on December 2nd at 4:55 p.m hosted by Premier Jason Kenney. The opening ceremony will include an outdoor performance by singer Andrea House and free cookies and hot chocolate from Café Vancia for those in attendance.

For more than 30 years the Legislative Assembly has celebrated the holiday season by inviting musical ensembles from all over the province to perform festive music in the beautiful Legislature rotunda. Though there are not as many performances as usual, and no evening carol singing, visitors can enjoy free festive performances by the Brasstactics at the North Amphitheatre on December 4, 11 and 18 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Café Vancia will be on-site with free hot chocolate while supplies last.

Free Livestream tours of the Legislature Building are available every Friday at 12:15 p.m.

If you are visiting Edmonton and would like a guided history tour while enjoying the lights, River Valley Adventure C0. hosts Legislature Lights Segway Adventure from December 6 to January 31, 2022.
