Albertans can now apply for a one-time $100 payment through the Alberta Energy Rebate.
Applications opened July 1 and will remain available until Sept. 30 through the secure online portal at alberta.ca/alberta-energy-rebate. The province says the rebate is designed to give households more flexibility as they deal with costs tied to fuel, groceries, utilities and other everyday needs.
Jason Nixon, President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, said the rebate is meant to go beyond fuel costs by getting support to Albertans more directly.
“The Alberta Energy Rebate goes beyond fuel costs. It’s about making sure more Albertans are receiving the right supports, when and where they need them most,” Nixon said. He added that direct payments are intended to make sure relief reaches people “now, not later.”
The province says almost 3.4 million Albertans could benefit. It also says the rebate offers more than 50 per cent more savings, on average, than Albertans would have received through fuel tax relief over three months.
To qualify, applicants must be at least 18, live in Alberta, have a verified Alberta.ca account, have filed a 2025 tax return and have a household income of $225,000 or less.
For this program, a household means either one individual or two people who are married or in a common-law relationship. Adults who share an address but are not married or common law, including roommates, adult children or other adult relatives, are treated as separate households. Each adult must apply on their own.
Some Albertans will not need to apply. Those receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped, the Alberta Disability Assistance Program or Income Support as of July 1 will be automatically enrolled.
To apply, residents must log into their verified Alberta.ca account, confirm their information and register through the portal. Their mailing address on an Alberta driver’s licence or identification card must match their Alberta.ca account.
