British Columbia is increasing angling licence fees for the 2023-24 season, marking the first time since 2003 that freshwater angling fees have been raised in the province.
The increase in fees will be 9.9% for the 2023-24 licence year and an additional 4% for the 2024-25 license year.
For example, the basic angling licence for adults, which is the most common, will increase from $36 per year to $39.56 per year in 2023 and then to $41.15 in 2024.
The province says with this increase will provide a funding boost to the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
The revenue generated from these angling fees goes towards funding programs run by the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and the Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation, both of which work to support the management of fisheries, habitats and angler opportunities within the province.
