Air Canada has announced the winners of its 2024 Top 10 Best New Restaurants in Canada, showcasing a diverse range of culinary excellence across the country.

The selection process involved a thorough review by a single anonymous critic who visited more than 30 dining establishments opened between late spring 2023 and May 31, 2024. This year’s judge was Tara O’Brady, a well-known cookbook author and culinary journalist. O’Brady’s evaluations were based on a variety of criteria, including the quality of food, service, and overall dining experience.

Here is the complete list of Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants of 2024:

  • Sabayon (Montreal, QC): This restaurant offers intimate tea and dinner services, celebrated for its meticulous attention to detail and locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Mhel (Toronto, ON): Features a dynamic open kitchen where chefs blend Korean and Japanese techniques to create magical culinary experiences.
  • Maison de Soma (Mont-Tremblant, QC): Set on a vast 600-acre farm, this restaurant offers a genuine farm-to-table experience, growing nearly every ingredient used in their dishes.
  • Takja BBQ House (Toronto, ON): A premium Korean BBQ restaurant known for its grilled meats and award-winning sides.
  • Café Malabar (Victoria, BC): Located in Victoria Public Market, this stall serves authentic Kerala cuisine at communal tables.
  • Parapluie (Montreal, QC): A sophisticated bistro in Montreal’s Mile End, offering classic French dishes with a modern twist.
  • Bar Prima (Toronto, ON): Combines old-world glamour with modern culinary techniques, famous for its beautifully crafted dishes.
  • Fat Rabbit (St. Catharines, ON): A multifaceted establishment that operates as a grill house, butcher, caterer, and grocer.
  • Gary’s (Vancouver, BC): A supper club in South Granville that has quickly become a local favorite for its refined dishes.
  • Crumb Queen/Andy’s Lunch (Winnipeg, MB): Known for its seamless transition from morning pastries to hearty lunch offerings, this eatery offers a unique dining concept.

Per the news release, this year’s list not only reflects the rich culinary diversity found across Canada but also highlights the growing trend of restaurateurs who are partners in both life and business, as noted by five of the top ten restaurants being led by such couples.
