Celebrate Toronto’s culture, diversity and art at the Celebrate Toronto Festival.
This is a 2-day event on the 10th and 11th of September by Celebrate Toronto, a non-profit organization.
This year join them on Toronto’s 188th Anniversary to “Rebuild. Reconnect. ShowLove”.
The festival aims to bring the city together and support its numerous, local, small businesses and talented artists and musicians. This annual festival is a “Celebration of the city’s fundamental past, evolving present and its promising future.”
Here are all the features of the festival:
- Support Toronto-based businesses at the Toronto Made Market, with over 100 businesses and artisans. It is a 6,000 sq. feet area with 125 local vendors selling a variety of crafts.
- There will be several live musical performances from local bands and DJs. CHUMfm 104.5 and Virgin Radio 99.9 will be hosting games and giving away prizes.
- On Saturday the live performers include DJ Flavia, Freeman Dre and the Kitchen Party, DJ Illz, and DJ A- Money. The Queens Own Rifles Band and Bugles will also be performing on Saturday.
- On Sunday Rockwell Revival will get you pumped up and dancing to their pop and rock covers. Show off your best moves at the DJ dance party with DJ Lucie Tic. You can get a drink from the Steam Whistle Beer Garden as you groove to all these sick beats.
- Capture memories at the Imagination zone, a 3D sculpture garden. This zone has cool interactive photo ops provided by Imagine-it3D. Meet Remi, the raccoon mascot, who loves to dance.
- Go on an educational walk with Toronto Past or visit their booth to learn more about Toronto’s history and culture. These walks take place every hour.
- Get Middle Eastern, Mexican and sweet treats from food vendor trucks. The participating vendors include Made Good, Roast Corn Express, Donia’s Donair, I Love Churros, Patagonia Gourmet, iHalo Krunch, La Fiesta Catering, TASTO, and Mirra’s Place.
In addition, you can also take part in contests and win prizes. Test your knowledge about Toronto with Toronto Trivia and win $3000 in prizes and one of ten trips by VIARail. In the Remi Dance Challenge learn her moves, record yourself and upload your video with the tag #RemiDanceChallenge.
