A nationwide recall is affecting several cheese items included in HelloFresh meal kits, after concerns about possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The recall by Canadian Food Inspection Agency covers a range of cheeses distributed across Canada by GDE Grocery Delivery E-Services Canada Inc., which operates as HelloFresh and Chefs Plate. The list includes shredded Parmesan, cheese curds, feta, goat cheese and mozzarella in sizes ranging from 28 grams up to 170 grams.
Some of the affected products carry specific codes and best-before dates, including Parmesan with codes such as 571607805 (BB 2026 AL 02) and 152607902 (BB 2026 AL 17), as well as mozzarella marked 571607807 (BB 2026 AL 02). Cheese curds and feta products with best-before dates in mid-April 2026 are also part of the recall.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the issue was identified by the company, and no illnesses have been reported so far. Still, officials are urging caution.
Listeria contamination can be difficult to spot. Food may look and smell normal but still carry the bacteria. Symptoms can include nausea, vomiting, fever, muscle aches, headaches and neck stiffness. The risk is higher for pregnant women, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. In serious cases, the illness can be life threatening.
Consumers are advised to check their meal kits carefully. Any recalled items should not be used, served or shared. They should either be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. Anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming these products is advised to seek medical care.
The CFIA is continuing its investigation and monitoring the removal of affected products.
