Events Description
Visitors can enjoy a unique skating experience on Rideau Hall’s historic skating rink, which was first installed in the time of Lord Dufferin, governor general from 1872 to 1878.
On November 22, 2025, a newly refrigerated skating rink officially opened to the public at Rideau Hall.
The revitalization of the rink responds to challenges posed by changing winter weather, while its advanced ice system meets stringent environmental and quality standards.
The renewed rink offers Canadians a more welcoming and accessible skating experience within a historic setting.
Lace up your skates and leave your bags in the Winter Pavilion, a stunning heritage building located next to the rink.
A fire pit and picnic tables are also available for visitors. Feel free to bring snacks or hot chocolate.
