Events Description
Witness the magic of dance as the talented students in our Professional Division’s Ballet Academic Program (BAP) take centre stage for a transcendent year-end performance that showcases highlights from timeless classical masterpieces and unveils breathtaking new works. These performances feature the graduating class’s emerging artists as well as the entire BAP student body. Join us as our student artists demonstrate their dedication with every step, reflecting years of hard work and artistic exploration.
This year features La Sylphide, a classic romantic ballet known for its delicate portrayal of the supernatural. The story centers on James, a Scottish man who becomes enamored with a mysterious and ethereal sylph (a woodland spirit) to tragic ends. We have assembled select scenes from updated versions of the ballet derived from companies including the Royal Danish Ballet and Paris Opera Ballet. The second half of Spotlight features exciting new contemporary works choreographed by artistic faculty member Kendra Woo and Professional Division alumnus and current RWB dancer Myles Mackesy.
