Our week-long day camps include daily encounters with an animal or zookeeper plus time to explore the Zoo, Park and fun places like the Nature Playground! Zoo Camp is designed using the R.A.F.T.S. framework (Recreation, Art, Friendships, Teamwork, Science). Under the guidance of our experienced staff, children will spend time outdoors and enjoy fun, age-appropriate activities.
Campers are organized into three age groups:
• Polar Bears (age 6-7) – learn about the needs of animal and what we all have in common
• Jr. Keeper (age 8-9) – learn about caring for animals and ourselves
• Jr. Researcher (age 10-12) – learn how we can help animals in the wild and at the Zoo
Summer Camp Sneak Peek | July 2 & 3 (Week 0)
Take a peek at some of the activities campers will enjoy during The Lost Tales theme weeks. These special days allow children to try out Zoo Camp and participate in some fantastic adventures.
The Magic of Nature (Weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, 9)
Magic is all around us, if you look for it. Join us as we discover the beauty of the forests and admire the strength of the proud bison roaming across the prairies. Whether we are observing the dance of the delightful butterfly or the captivating movements of a stalking tiger, campers will be enchanted by the wonders at the Zoo and Park. It will be a quest to see and reveal the secrets of nature, as we travel behind-the-scenes to explore the mysteries of our animals. By working together, we will investigate what we need to do to protect the magic of nature. Join us for a week of magical fun and adventure!
The Lost Tales (Weeks 2, 4, 6, 8)
Adventure lies ahead as campers explore the unknowns of the animal kingdom. From the deep oceans and secretive mountains, to the endless skies and dark jungles, campers will discover the large and the small who hide within their mysterious habitats. Explorations behind-the-scenes will bring them closer to the untold stories of the Zoo, and chances for play will have them mucking about in nature. Whether campers are engaging with new, furry, or feathered friends, they will be inspecting ways to aid natural communities, and to help people rebuild lost connections with nature. It will be fun for all as we dive into the forgotten realms of adventure and maybe find a lost tail or two.
