What to Do at Pathway of the Voyageurs Tour?

Aikens Lake is one of the top destinations for walleye in North America. The Aikens lake is the second deepest in Manitoba. You may fish, filet and cook your catch in a shorelunch. All the visitors to the Lodge agree on one thing- one of their favourite moments during the stay is the shorelunch experience. Each day you get to enjoy the a different but equally tasty shorelunch whipped by your guide. Fishing enthusiasts can also learn about fly-in fishing.

Get on the river boat to journey to a historic fur trade portage. Continue on to a walking trail along which the past fur traders carried canoes and goods. As you go along the way, you will understand why the package is named the Pathways of the Voyageurs. While at the Lodge you can understand more about sustainable logging and wood production practices practized at the Aikens Lake Lodge.

During your outings, you may see many wildlife in its natural habitat including black bears, woodland caribou, otters, beavers, an occasional timber wolf, moose. Spend your night stargaxing or enjoy spectacular night walks.

During your stay you will gain an appreciation of the French-Canadian culture and history. To make it a truly memorable experience, the participants take part in a unique ceremony named ‘La promesse de l’Homme du Nord’ symbolising the ancient voyageur’s commitment- providing participants with a tangible connection with the fur trader’s of the past.
