There are over 40 murals decorating the building exteriors of Stony Plain, and you can get an exclusive tour of all the public art this summer.

The Stony Plain Horse & Wagon Tours are back for summer 2025, offering a unique way to experience the town’s public art and murals.
The murals of Stony Plain are showcases of Canadian art in various themes and stretch across the entire town, with a vast majority located around 50th Avenue and 50th Street.

The Wagon Tours run on select Saturdays and depart from Stony Plain’s Red Brick Common. Throughout the tour, you’ll learn about life in Stony Plain over the years, the culture and people of Stony Plain, and significant historical events.
Some highlights:
The first mural: These colourful exhibits started appearing in Stony Plain in the early 1990s, with the first one, Strong Arm of the Law, appearing in 1990.
The biggest highlight: for Canada’s 150th Anniversary, a few new murals appeared around Stony Plain, including the large Mural Mosaics and The Community.
The newest addition to the town is a series of paintings, including Shaping the Future, Project of the Heart, The Good Life, and Comforts Past, which were added in 2021.
Beyond the murals, you’ll also get to see all of Stony Plain and additional public art pieces like statues and sculptures. The wagons accommodate 14 people, so you can book for a large family group and create a summer outing out of it, or plan a date out of the tours for you and a special someone.

Horse & Wagon Mural Tours
What: The Town of Stony Plain is known for its magnificent outdoor paintings. Over 40 murals are located throughout downtown and the surrounding areas. The artworks have been created by 23 different artists from across Canada.
When: Saturdays, July 12 and 26, August 9 and 23, 2025, Tours start at 11:30 AM and 1 PM
