Centretown is once again transforming into a magical street with breathtaking illuminations. The annual Fire & Ice Winter Festival will take place on Bank Street and will feature captivating lights and sound installations for visitors to interact with over a span of four blocks, all free of charge!
From various performances throughout the street to custom-designed installations that have never been seen before, the Fire & Ice Winter Festival promises to be an unforgettable experience.
The art installations include:
- The Flickering Sun is a tall structure where visitors can write positive messages on wooden pucks, and the structure lights up every time a puck is placed.
- The Ember Cave is a 40-ft-long installation filled with sound and light activations that immerses visitors in a fiery land.
- The Harmony of Swings features 16 seats with icy spheres shining above and fiery lights flickering beneath, synchronized with the music.
- The Northern Whirlwind is a well-received Polar Vortex tunnel revamped with shimmering sound effects and changing colours.
- The Ring of Fire is an interactive installation with circular light rings stacked atop one another.
- The Cryosphere is a 40-ft-long installation that brings visitors to the depths of the North Pole.
- The Reflections is a 20-ft-long and 8-ft-tall maze that creates the illusion of an infinity mirror.
- The Glacier Valley features 7-ft-tall glacial arches placed in front of Snider Plaza. The Stars of the North is a 7-ft-tall glacial arch structure with captivating lights located on Slater Street.
- The Ice Cube is an immersive installation made up of video walls and only allows one person at a time.
- The Frozen Gateway is a mystic screen that visitors can walk through to enter a new electrifying dimension leading to the Château de Glace installation.
And don’t miss out on the Silent Disco, which will take place in the parking lot behind Snider Plaza. With a holographic castle stage, stunning lights, and multiple DJ stations to choose from, it’s sure to be the perfect way to end your day at the festival.
Live DJs will also be on hand, and an outdoor bar will be available for refreshments.
The festival will run from Friday, March 17th, to Sunday, March 19th, and there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy the event. The installations on the streets will be open from 7:30 pm on Friday, 11 am on Saturday, and 11 am on Sunday. Live DJ performances will start at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday, and the Silent Disco will begin at 10 pm both nights.
Admission to the festival is free, but tickets are required for the Silent Disco headphones.
