If you have never fished in Saskatchewan waters and are looking to try fishing, then visit the province this weekend to take advantage of Saskatchewan’s Free Fishing Weekend.
Visitors and residents can cast a line in Saskatchewan’s public waters open to sport fishing on July 9th and 10th without a license. There are nearly 70 species of fish native to Saskatchewan, including 21 different sport fishing species, such as walleye, pike and trout.
If you are planning to take advantage of the free fishing weekend, you should remember that all other fishing regulations, including possession limits, gear restrictions and size limits on some lakes and rivers, remain in effect.
The free fishing weekend does not apply in national parks and anyone planning on taking fish out of the province must purchase a licence.
