Parks Canada has closed parts of the Johnston Canyon trail in Bow Valley Parkway until late Fall.

The closure is due to construction. Parks Canada is replacing and extending the pedestrian railing located on the trail from the Lower Falls to the Upper Falls. There will be no access in the upper portion of the trail between the Lower Falls and Upper Falls during this time.
The trail from the parking lot to the Lower Falls remains open to the public.
The ink pots trail via Johnston Creek trailhead (Moose Meadows) will be accessible to the public, but you will not be able to hike to ink pots via Upper Falls.
Parks Canada says the improvements to the railings will prevent visitors from straying from the trail and trampling on surrounding vegetation. Johnston Canyon is home to a small population of endangered Black Swifts.
