List of Places Open in Winnipeg – Patios, Museums, Shopping Centres

imageHere’s a list of places open in Winnipeg. Please do keep in mind that you must maintain the Province’s social distancing norms and follow Public Health Orders.

Do check back often as we will be adding to this list as and when more places open up.

  • All City-owned play structures and picnic shelters are open. Skate parks, tennis courts, basketball courts, and athletic fields are also open. However, the City will not be sanitizing playgrounds more frequently than normal.
  • Provincial Parks are open. Park camping site reservations are open.

  • Winnipeg Art Gallery| Tuesday – Sunday | 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM; except Fridays when it closes at 9:00 PM
    • Rooftop Sculpture Garden is open
    • WAG@The Forks is open | Daily | 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Dalnavert Museum and Visitors’ Centre
    • Wednesday to Sunday | Noon – 4:00 PM by appointment
  • Transcona Museum
    • Maximum visitors allowed is 5
    • Look for a sign on the door. You may enter if the sign is green, wait on the sidewalk if its red.
    • June – August | Tuesday – Saturday | 9:30 AM – 3:30 PM (Subject to change)
  • The following Winnipeg Public Library branches will be open for holds pick-up service, telephone reference service, and access to return borrowed library materials. Monday to Wednesday, and Friday | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM; Thursday | 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM

  • Assiniboia Downs Club West Lounge will reopen for dining and wagering from June 2.
    • Daily | 1:00 AM – 11:00 PM except on live race days (Monday – Wednesday) when the club closes at 5:00 PM
    • The Terrace Dining Room will be open to horse owners and their guests on live race nights by calling 204-885-3330 ext. 221 for reservations.
  • The Manitoba Museum
    • Thursdays – Sundays | 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Canadian Museum for Human Rights
    • Tuesday – Saturday | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Saint-Boniface Museum
    • Open for pre-booked exclusive one-hour visits.
  • Royal Canadian Mint. Tours will resume from July 13 with advance booking, 204-984-1144
  • Fort Gibraltar is open from July 21st
  • Ross House Museum; 204-942-5396
    • Wednesday – Sunday, until August 31 | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Seven Oaks House Museum; 204-339-7429
    • Wednesday – Sunday, until Labour Day | 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Nature Centres

  • FortWhyte Alive has reopened all walking and cycling trails, Nature Shop, The Buffalo Stone Cafe and the Alloway Reception Centre (for check-in and washrooms only) from May 11.
    • Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    • Saturday – Sunday | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Oak Hammock Marsh trails are open. The Interpretive Centre will be closed.
  • Assiniboine Park
    • Greenspace and pathways, Leo Mol Sculpture Garden, and the English Garden will remain open.
    • The Park Café, The Pavilion, Nature Playground are temporarily closed.
  • Outdoor areas of the Assiniboine Park Zoo are open. Gateway to the Arctic, Stingray Beach and the Gibbon Pavilion will be open. Buildings featuring high-touch displays and those where physical distancing is hard to maintain will remain closed. Visitors will enter through the main entrance at 2595 Roblin Boulevard and exit at a separate location just west of the main entrance.
  • Living Prairie Museum‘s outdoor area and Interpretive Centre is open.

      Both Fionn MacCool’s locations are open for take out and Patio dining as well.
