Boston Pizza has reintroduced its Kids Cards initiative, this time paired with a new local-focused fundraising strategy, “Looking After Local,” which aims to support community charities where the funds are raised.

The Kids Cards program, operational since 2006, has historically raised over $13 million to aid children and families throughout Canada. This year, however, the program will retain the funds within local communities, an approach shaped by franchisee input requesting more local support.
According to the news release, this initiatove shifts from previous practices where collected donations were distributed to Boston Pizza’s national charity partners. Over the past three decades, the Boston Pizza Foundation has generated nearly $40 million for various national organizations.
Starting September 1, customers who donate a minimum of $5 to the Boston Pizza Foundation will receive a Kids Gift Card. This card is redeemable for five free kids’ meals at any Boston Pizza location until June 30, 2025.
For donations made between August 19 and September 30, these cards are also available for purchase online. Additionally, registering the Kids Card on the MyBP account entitles the holder to a sixth complimentary meal.
Per the news release, the “Looking After Local” program enables franchisees to direct all donations received during the brand’s two annual fundraising events—Valentine’s Day and Kids Cards—to a local charity of their choice.
Boston Pizza says the initiative reinforces its commitment to nurturing community ties through direct local support, building on a legacy of community engagement that began when the Boston Pizza Foundation was established in 1990.
