About Mt Norquay Ski Resort, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Situated on the Mountain named after Premier of Manitoba, John Norquay, Mt Norquay ski resort is one of the three world famous ski resorts in Banff National Park.

 

The first chair lift in Canada was installed in Mount Norquay. To supplement natural snow, 85 % of the ski terrain is covered by snowmaking. 36 runs of the resort are served by 3 quad chairs, one 2 person North American chair and 1 magic carpet. North American chair serves the double black diamond Lodge Pine run.

Mt. Norquay is also a family friendly resort.

What to do at Mt Norquay Ski Resort ?

1. Go skiing with the whole family as there are ski runs to suit every skill level :from easy to expert runs.
Few runs are lit even in the night (only resort in Canadian Rockies to do so: Night skiing from Jan – Mar & weather dependent).

2. Snow board or ski at Terrain Park, which is fully lit at night.

3. Try snow tubing. Young kids can snow tube at the small sliding area, and play at the a play area.

4. Learn how to ski alone or as a family, attend Ski Camps for kids & teens.

5. Snow shoe at Stoney Squaw Loop Trail (1 hr), Stoney Squaw Summit Trail (2.5 hr) or at Prune Pickers Trail ( 2 hr).

6. Enjoy fresh flavours & craft brews at the newly renovated historic Cliffhouse Bistro, headed by celebrated chef Morne Burger.

1. Go for a 15 minute ride on the The North American Chairlift to the boardwalk from where one can appreciate the scenery extraordinaire formed by Spray & Bow Valleys with Mt. Rundle as the backdrop.

2. Have a snack, or relax at the roof top patio at Cliff house Bistro.

3. Go adventuring at ‘Banff’s ONLY Via Ferrata

Who all can go to Mt Norquay Ski Resort ?

Everybody (Child care available for kids from 19 months to 6 years).

Snow Tubing : Children under 1.1 metres (42inches) in height are not permitted in the snow tube park.

Masks must be worn when riding lifts as well as in lift line-ups due to COVID-19.
2-metre physical distancing in lineups
Hand sanitizer available at loading/unloading points
Ride chairlifts in your cohorts.
Lift attendants will be wearing face coverings and/or face shields
Ski Patrol will wear face coverings and practice stringent COVID measures when attending to on-mountain incidents

The resort is open for Skiing from Mid November to Early April. Varies each year with weather conditions (check current weather).

There are a number of options to enjoy skiing/snowboarding/tubing at the resort. Mt.Norquay offers flexible hourly tickets, and afternoon tickets. Located on Mt Norquay, Mt Norquay resort is 134 kms from downtown Calgary & 7 kms from Banff town.

From Calgary,

Head west on AB-1W and take Banff exit. Then turn to Mt Norquay road onto Mt. Norquay Scenic drive to reach the resort.

From Banff town,

Travel on Mt Norquay road onto Mt. Norquay Scenic drive to reach the resort.

The ski bus takes visitors to and fro from major hotels in Banff for a fee. Check website for details.
