While shiny new things can be appealing to many people, they don’t have the charm of antiques and vintage items that have withstood the test of time. New Brunswick is home to many great antique shops where antique aficionados can check out and find hidden gems.

Angel Mist Treasures

 

On the way to Hopewell Rocks is Angel Mist Treasures and Johnson Museum. It started as an antique store and at some point, the owners decided to keep the more fascinating items. The showroom is filled with treasures you can take home. They also buy antiques, if you are willing to part with yours.

The newest antique shop on this list, Bullrush Antiques & Home Decor is coming this spring. The owner creates her own lovely and wacky home decor that goes perfectly with the antiques that are for sale in the shop. You can shop on their Facebook page until the storefront is open.

This small antique store is right in Downtown Fredericton. Lots of cool and unique items can be found at Chase Benjamin Antiques, including kitchen wares, old medicine bottles, and collectible cards.

The giant quilt piece on the front of the building makes this antique furniture and primitive home decor shop easy to find. When you enter Bloomfield Treasures, you will be greeted by a large selection of antique furniture and hard-to-find pieces. They specialize in late 1800s to early 1900s oak furniture.

Located in downtown Moncton, Boutique Recycl’Art and Antiques is two floors of antiques and collectibles. The 1930’s general store is the perfect backdrop for this lovely collection. Head upstairs to see the country kitchen that looks just like grandmas. This quaint shop has been serving the Moncton area since 1995.

Open from mid-April to mid-November, Watch Your Head Antiques & Collectibles is home to rare China items, unique glass pieces, and home goods. The Blueberry Guesthouse is on the property and is the home of the largest Hughes Cornflower collections in Canada. Along with the shop, the owners do travel to antique sales across the Maritimes.

This huge shop has tens of thousands of items, so you are likely to find the special gem that you are looking for.

On the way to Hopewell Rocks from Moncton, you can spot a church with a bright pink door and unique pink windows. Inside you will find vintage clothing and home decor. Everything is nicely organized, so you can easily find the items that you are looking for. While you are there you may get to see the church cats that spend days inside the boutique interacting with customers if they choose to.

Near the Miramichi River waterfront is Open Door Antiques. The shop buys and sells a wide variety of small antiques, signs, and collectible cards. They often post new items on their Facebook page and offer holds on items with an e-transfer from the customer.

KeepSakes Antique & Gift Shoppe

2021 is the last year that KeepSakes Antique & Gift Shoppe will be open. After 50 years of collecting antiques and vintage items and opening their own Moncton Flea Market in 1972, it is understandable why the owners are choosing to retire. The store will be closing by August 31st, if not sooner. Make sure to head to the shop soon and get some bargains since everything is now 50% off.
