Name RCMP’s Future Musical Ride Horses: Name the Foal Contest 2023

RCMP is celebrating their 150th anniversary this year, and they are searching for unique names starting with “W” for the foals that might join the Musical Ride one day.

A committee of RCMP Musical Ride and Heritage Branch employees will choose up to 12 lucky winners from all over Canada, including one classroom entry and one entry submitted at the Musical Ride’s Open House back in February. These winning names will be given to as many as 12 foals expected to be born this spring at the RCMP Breeding Farm in Pakenham, Ontario.

Per the news release, the contest winners will each receive a prize pack featuring a photo of the named foal, a certificate signed by the RCMP Commissioner, and a custom-engraved horseshoe crafted by an RCMP farrier.

The victorious classroom entry will get a framed photo of their named foal and a signed certificate from the RCMP Commissioner.

To enter, participants must:

  • be 14 or younger
  • submit a name that starts with the letter “W”
  • enter only once
  • live in Canada
  • enter by no later than April 21, 2023, at 11:59 pm (Eastern Standard Time)

What about Wilma, Willow, Walker, Warrior, Windsor, Winchester, Wren, Wisteria, Winter, Waaseyaa, Waawaate, and Wakwi?

FYI: RCMP 150th anniversary tour this year will tentatively visit British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Schedule TBA.
