The two carriers have entered an interline partnership that links Air Transat’s service into Rio de Janeiro’s Galeão International Airport with GOL’s network. That connection opens access to 65 domestic routes and 17 international destinations offered by GOL, reaching major centres such as São Paulo, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador and Belo Horizonte.
Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer, said the agreement supports the airline’s growing ambitions in the region. He described the arrangement as a natural fit, noting that it lines up with Air Transat’s expansion plans and its entry into the Rio market.
Those plans include the airline’s first direct flights to Rio de Janeiro. Service from Toronto is scheduled to begin on February 4, 2026, operating twice a week. Montreal will follow with a weekly flight starting February 5, 2026.
The partnership between Air Transat and GOL is already in effect, and customers will be able to book itineraries that combine both airlines within the next few days.
