Reservations for Parks Canada’s Lake O’Hara day-use bus and shuttles to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake lakeshores open on April 12th and 13th, respectively.
Lake O’Hara Bus
The Lake O’Hara area of Yoho National Park is one of the most spectacular areas in the Canadian Rockies.
Lake O’Hara is a hotspot for wildlife, hiking trails, and breathtaking mountain scenery. During the summer, facilities like the campground, lodge, day shelter, and two Alpine Club of Canada huts (Abbot Pass and Elizabeth Parker) are bustling with activity.
To reach these facilities, you can either hike 12 km (one way) or take a Parks Canada bus. Cycling is prohibited on the road.
While the trail along the bus road is enjoyable, it’s advised to conserve your stamina for the breathtaking treks surrounding Lake O’Hara.
The bus runs from June 18th to October 3rd, 2023 (Day-use bus schedule (MDT): 8:30; 10:30 (ingoing) and 9:30; 11:30; 14:30; 16:30; 18:30 (outgoing)), with general tickets (ages 6-99) costing $17.14 per person and free entry for children under five.
Pets are prohibited on the bus and at the campground but permitted on the road when leashed.
Reservations for Lake O’Hara Day-Use Bus will be available beginning at 8:00 AM MT, April 12, 2023. Remember to create an account before the reservation opens.
Lake Louise and Moraine Lake Shuttle
Lake Louise and Moraine Lake are two of the most picturesque lakes in Canada.
This year, private vehicles will be prohibited on Moraine Lake Road. While you can drive to Lake Louise and parking there is allowed, finding an empty spot is extremely challenging during the summer months.
Only Parks Canada shuttles, Roam Public Transit, hop-on-hop-off buses, taxis, commercial buses, and vehicles with a government-issued disabled pass will have access to Moraine Lake Road.
To visit Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, shuttle reservations are recommended.
The Parks Canada Shuttle to Moraine Lake originates from Lake Louise Park and Ride lot, situated at Lake Louise Summer Gondola (Ski Resort).
Lake Louise Lakeshore shuttle operates daily from May 19 to October 9, 2023, with service every 20 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Moraine Lake shuttle runs daily from June 1 to October 9, 2023, with service every 20 minutes between 6:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and 15-minute frequency between Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.
Lake Connector shuttle is for reservation holders only (boarding pass required) or those with a Roam Transit (public transport in Banff) Superpass. It’s free of charge, first-come, first-served, and no specific booking time is needed.
The Park and Ride Connector runs daily from May 19 to October 9, 2023, between the Lake Louise Campground, Samson Mall, and Lake Louise Ski Resort.
Adults (18-64 years) pay $8, and seniors (65+ years) pay $4. There is a non-refundable $3 reservation fee if booking online, and $6 if booking by telephone.
For the summer season, 40% of tickets will be available when reservation opens on Thursday, April 13, and the remaining 60% will be released on a rolling basis two days before departure.
