Restaurants and Hair Salons in Calgary and Brooks Will Not be Reopening on May 14

imagePremier Jason Kenney announced that restaurants, hair salons in Calgary and Brooks will not be reopening as part of Stage 1 of Alberta’s relaunch strategy.

All other parts of Alberta including Edmonton will reopen.


The decision was made because there are currently 1,017 active cases in the Calgary zone while Edmonton has only 60. Calgary zone also has 70 per cent of provincial cases.


What will NOT reopen in Calgary & Brooks on May 14th

  • Summer camps, summer schools and in-person post-secondary classes moved to June 1.
  • Restaurants and Hair Salons reopening date moved to May 25th.

What WILL (can) reopen in Calgary & Brooks

  • All retail stores including stores in malls.
  • Museums and art galleries
  • Daycares and out-of-school care centres
