Royal Manitoba Winter Fair

The Royal Manitoba Winter Fair is one of only two fairs in Canada to have received Royal designation from Queen Elizabeth II. How fancy is that?

The fair is held in Brandon and is the largest annual event in the area. You can expect to see some impressive show jumping, heavy horse competitions, livestock sales and displays, and over 300 commercial and agricultural exhibits.

Each day begins with the serene ambiance of optional schooling, swiftly moving into the vibrant heart of the fair with the Hunter Jumper horse shows. These shows span a variety of classes, captivating audiences with heights ranging from 2’3″ to over 3’6″, showcasing both the grace and the athletic prowess of the competing horses and riders.

Beyond the horse shows, the fairgrounds buzz with activity, offering something for everyone.

The Royal Farm Yard introduces visitors to the beauty of rural life, while the Manitoba Hydro KID ZONE is a wonderland of laughter and excitement, featuring popular mascots like Pikachu, the Easter Bunny, and Olaf, ensuring the little ones are thrilled and engaged. Afternoons bring an array of special events such as the Hackney Pony Pleasure Driving, the awe-inspiring Truco Trick Riders, and interactive performances by the WoofJocks Canine All Stars, blending athleticism with the charm of performing animals.

Magic shows, circus acts, and music performances weave through the schedule, enriching the fair’s vibrant tapestry. Educational demonstrations, like the Lily Ridge Equine First Aid Demo, add a learning dimension to the entertainment, highlighting the fair’s commitment to community and agricultural education.

Each evening concludes with special ceremonies including opening ceremonies everyday at 6:30 p.m. and awards, celebrating the achievements of the day and wrapping up the festivities with a sense of community and shared joy.

Gate admission pricing is reasonable, with adults between 18 and 64 costing $22, seniors 65+ and youth between 13 and 17 costing $20. Tickets for children between 6 and 12 years old cost $10, and those 5 and under get in for free! Wednesday is RBC Family Day and has reduced ticket rates.

Head over to the Keystone Centre, Unit 1-A, 1200 – 13th Street, Brandon, from March 25 to 30 and join the agricultural fun at the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair.

See you there!
