Saskatchewan’s chief medical officer, Dr. Saqib Shahab, has confirmed the province’s first presumptive case of COVID-19.
Dr. Saqib Shahab said the patient, who is in her 60s, had recently travelled to Egypt and was tested on March 9 in Saskatoon. She is in self-isolation at home.

The province health officials said that the risk to Saskatchewan residents remains low, but all residents can help prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing the following:
- Wash your hands frequently,
- Sneeze or cough into a tissue or your sleeve,
- Practice social distancing,
- Stay home if you are sick.
The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences have taken proactive action in the wake of WHO declaring COVID-19 a pandemic, and have cancelled Juno Awards, set to take place this weekend in Saskatoon.
