Echo Valley Provincial Park is preparing for another winter season centred on outdoor skating, trail activities, and overnight stays, as its popular Skate the Park experience returns with new features and expanded amenities.

Skate the Park opens on December 26 at Echo Valley Provincial Park, offering a skating loop through the Aspen campground.

Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Alana Ross said the experience transforms the park each winter, inviting visitors to enjoy skating in a uniquely lit outdoor setting. This year’s setup includes thousands of decorative lights and a Winter Olympics–inspired theme, complete with a photo podium. Adaptive kicksleds will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and a heated tipi with a wood-burning stove is also returning.

Beyond skating, visitors can access a Ninja Warrior Course, a crokicurl rink, illuminated snowshoe trails, and cross-country ski routes. A wooden-barrel sauna operated by Back2Nature Wellness is available by reservation. The Visitor Centre will offer snacks, drinks, and Sask Parks apparel.

Skate the Park runs Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Fridays until 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays and statutory holidays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For those looking to stay overnight, options include propane-heated Camp-Easy Yurts, electric campsites, and glamping domes provided by Earth To Sky.

A valid park entry permit is required year-round. Annual Saskatchewan Provincial Parks permits cost $45 and are valid until April 30, 2026.
