Take a Scenic Train Ride Near London on One of the Oldest Railway Lines in Ontario

Ride the rails and travel through the beautiful woodlands of scenic Kettle Creek Valley.

For over 35 years, the Port Stanley Terminal Rail has been operating trains over the tracks of one of the oldest railways in Ontario, the London and Port Stanley Railway. 

The line is 11 km long and extends northwards, following the Valley of Kettle Creek.

On your train tours, you will be travelling on cabooses and ex-CNR coaches that have been converted to passenger trains. They have a total of 6 regular equipment cars (# 62, 65, 66, 68, 68 and 63) and 4 entertainment ones (car # 51, 52 and 54, including their very popular little red caboose.)

The little red caboose can seat up to 26 people for birthday parties or other special events. It is available for 1 hour or 90 minute trips.

PSTR offers many excursion options to choose from. The scenic train ride is a 60 minute long ride from Port Stanley to the beautiful Whytes Park and back. At the park you can see their circus car and rail exhibits. 

You can also see completely restored stations at Union and Port Stanley.

In October, you can enjoy fun Pumpkin patch train rides and in November and December, they have Santa treats train rides. 

At the PSTR gift shop, you can find artifacts, books and videos related to railways. They also have Melissa & Doug and Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise.

If you are truly interested in the history of railways in southwestern Ontario, you should also visit Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas.

Whether you are visiting Port Stanley for its blue flag beach or on a trip along Lake Erie, a ride on PSTR is an absolute must.

Port Stanley Terminal Railway

What: Experience a train ride through the scenic Kettle Creek Valley over a portion of the former London & Port Stanley Railway.

Themed tours include Easter Egg Hunt, Mothers Day, Father’s Day, Thanksgiving, Murder Mystery Train, Pumpkin Train, Halloween Train and Santa Train.

When: Easter (Egg Hunt) to December. Various days & times.

All trains depart from and return to the station in Port Stanley next to the King George Lift Bridge and operate rain or shine.
