Amaranth Bale Trail is returning for the fourth year, just in time to celebrate Halloween.

Many Ontarians head to Muskoka, Algonquin Park and other central Ontario locations for fall colour road trips, but what about visiting Amaranth Township from mid-October to 1st week of November to see sculptures made from bales of straw?

A perfect family fall road trip, Amaranth Bale Trail features sculptures made from straw by Amaranth Township residents.

Amaranth Bale Trail sculptures result from the annual fall contest for interested residents who showcase their talents in the following categories: Animals/Bugs, Flowers/Plants, Food, and Characters.

This is a perfect “I Spy” road trip with little kids, and last year’s creations included a creative take on minions, Halloween scenes, and spiders, among others.

You can also get fresh produce and local products from farms, as some places will also have farm stands.

Amaranth Township is located in Dufferin County. To enhance your fall trip, you can also visit Monocliffs Provincial Park (get a Park pass in advance), Island Lake Conservation Area, or Luther Marsh.

If you want to convert it into a romantic fall season date, head to Hockley Valley Resort for fine dining after the Bale Trail road trip. It is also a great place to see fall colours.
