In the 18-lap final, Kim Boutin, Courtney Sarault, William Dandjinou and Félix Roussel skated for Canada.

Florence Brunelle and Steven Dubois also played key roles in the silver medal run. Brunelle skated in the quarterfinals with Sarault, Dandjinou and Roussel, while Dubois raced the semifinals alongside Boutin, Sarault and Dandjinou.

The result is Canada’s first Olympic medal in the mixed relay, an event introduced at Beijing 2022. For Boutin, the silver is her fifth Olympic medal, making her the most decorated Canadian female short track speed skater. Dubois now owns four Olympic medals, while the rest of the relay team earned their first.

Earlier in the Games, Megan Oldham captured bronze in women’s ski slopestyle and Valérie Maltais secured Canada’s first medal, skating to bronze in the women’s 3000m speed skating event.
