Things to Do During August Long Weekend on PEI – 2026

The first Monday in August is a long weekend for most of the Maritimes.

PEI has many fairs, festivals, and events taking place over the weekend. This weekend is the perfect time to travel to PEI and enjoy some of these festivities. Here are 15 things to do this Civic Day weekend in PEI.

1. Natal Day Weekend Celebrations – Charlottetown from July 30 – August 2, 2026

Celebrate Charlottetown’s 171st birthday with free celebrations for all ages.

Charlottetown’s Natal Day weekend features citywide chalk art, awards, a guided bike ride, outdoor symphony, pancake breakfast, pool glow party, yoga and Charlie Town’s birthday celebration. Events run July 30-August 2, with food, music, family activities and community gatherings planned.

2. Bonshaw Trail Races – Bonshaw, August 2, 2026

Take on a scenic trail race through Bonshaw Hills and Strathgartney Provincial Parks, with 10 km, 26 km, and 52 km routes featuring rolling hills, forest trails, wooden bridges, and unforgettable views.

3. The Haunting of Yeo House Ghost Tour – Port Hill, July & August 2026

Enter Yeo House, where guests peer beyond the veil, guided by staff who’ve experienced its hauntings. Unearth eerie legends, wicked history, and Victorian mourning beliefs, and meet Wheelie, the Foundation’s notorious haunted artifact.

4. Watermark Theatre Summer Festival – North Rustico,  June 23 – August 29, 2026

Watermark Theatre Summer Festival is the finest professional theatre on the Island. The festival is celebrating its 16th season this summer.

 

5. Wild Blueberry Festival and Homecoming – St. Peter’s Bay, July 24 – August 2, 2026

It’s all about celebrating your community at this annual festival. Celebrate with a variety of programs, including golf and softball tournaments, movie nights, trivia events, yard sales, and the most popular event, the Blueberry Roll.

6. Pride Fest – PEI, July 24 – August 2, 2026

A welcoming celebration of the Island’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community, open to everyone.

7. Tyne Valley Oyster Festival – Tyne Valley, July 28 – August 2, 2026

Tyne Valley Oyster Festival

The Tyne Valley Oyster Festival is home to the famous Canadian Oyster Shucking Championship and PEI’s largest rural parade and runs from July 28 to August 2, 2026.

8.  Fortune Bridge Farms & Toby’s Farm Market  – Souris

Indulge in the delights of the Fun Park and Lavender Field. Choose your favourite bloom to bring home and browse through various vendors.

9. River Clyde Pageant – New Glasgow, July 23 – 26 & July 30 – August 2, 2026

During the River Clyde Pageant, New Glasgow is the stage for giant puppets, stilt-walkers, musicians, and other performers from across PEI. The stage overlooks the beautiful Gardens of Hope.

10. DiverseCity Multicultural Festival –Montague, August 2, 2026

This vibrant festival celebrates PEI’s diversity through international food, live music, dance, arts and crafts, and demonstrations of local skills and talents.

11. Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series – Mont-Carmel, August 2, 2026

The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series showcases outstanding Acadian, traditional, folk, and contemporary music by leading artists from across Atlantic Canada.

12. PEI Truck & Tractor Pull Championships – Crapaud, July 31 – August 2, 2026

The 42nd Annual PEI Truck & Tractor Pull Championships is the #GreatestShowOnDirt in Atlantic Canada, where stock and modified classes compete to win cash prizes and the top prize.

13. Festival Route 11 – Union Corner,  July 31 – August 2, 2026

Festival Route 11

This bilingual folk festival celebrates Acadian culture through world-class music, local food, visual art, dance workshops, family activities, and plenty of joie de vivre.

14. Under the Spire Music Festival –  Indian River from June to September 2026

The magnificent and acoustically perfect St. Mary’s Church becomes the backdrop of exceptional folk, jazz, blues, classical, and choral music at this summer-long concert series.
